I don't know where people get this crap.
First, I am not going to dissect this because this is all taken out of context. Obama saying that he thinks the Muslim call to prayer is beautiful no more makes him a Muslim than saying the same thing about a jaunty Gregorian Chant makes him a Medieval Catholic. It's the first part that really irks me:
Legal Disclaimer: The writers, producers, and editors of this video are not claiming or implying that Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim, or that Obama said he was a Muslim, rather they are only examining the evidence surrounding the rumor that Barack Hussein Obama might be a secret Muslim.
They say this in the notes for the video:
Obama admits that he is a Muslim. Obama bowing before a Muslim king. Obama talking about his Muslim family. Obama quoting from the Koran. Obama defending Islam. Obama visiting a Mosque. And many more clips of Obama and his Muslim connections.
You can't have it both ways you mealy mouthed ignoramuses. Of course you're implying it, otherwise you wouldn't have posted it. When you say "Muslim connections" you aren't couching your statements in delicious chocolate.
First of all, so what if he is a Muslim? Last time I looked, the constitution said this:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
United States Constitution, Amendment 1, first clause.
He meets all of the tests to be President of the United States;
No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
United States Constitution, Article II, Section 1 - The President
I add this one just because I want to make a point;
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.
United States Constitution, Article VI - Debts, Supremacy, Oaths
Yes, I know this will disappoint the birthers reading this, but the state of Hawaii has produced The President's birth certificate. Hawaii officially entered the USA as the fiftieth state on August 21, 1959. The President was born August 4, 1961 nearly two years later in Honolulu. So, unless you really, really think he's the Manchurian Candidate, you have to stop. There is no tangible evidence to remotely suggest that he was born in Africa, Greenland, or the rings of Saturn. Grow up.
Let me also say this. Just because we were attacked by Muslim extremists on 9/11/2001 doesn't negate our laws. If Obama was a practicing Muslim who happened to be elected President, suck it up GOP. Get ready for prayer rugs in the West Wing.
When Obama was a young boy in Indonesia (the family had to move there because his new step dad was a college student and the then Indonesian dictator, Suharto, recalled all students back to the home country in 1967), he spent more time at a Roman Catholic school (3 years) than he did at the Muslim public school (1 year). Does this make him a Cathlofacsist too?
His step dad, Lolo Soetoro (his real dad divorced his mother in 1964, and only visited his son once in Honolulu in 1971) was not a devout Muslim, only going to the mosque for prayer occasionally. Barack (Barry Soetoro as he was known then) went on about the same schedule. Hardly what you would call "Muslim indoctrination." Barry went back to Hawaii in 1971 and lived with his maternal grandparents. He attended Punahou School, a private college preparatory school and graduated in 1979. He then went on to Occidental College in Los Angeles, Columbia University in New York, worked as a community organizer in Chicago, and started at Harvard Law School in 1988. He was editor and president of the Harvard Law Review in his first and second years there, and graduated magna cum laude with a JD in law.
His real dad was an atheist you know, not a Muslim.
I wrote all this and now I'm going to tell you where I found it; Wikipedia. You can find it too, here.
My real concern is this; that people who I know that are vibrant, loving and intelligent can get caught up in lies and attacks about The President. You may attack his policies, you may even make fun of his looks or speech. Hell, I made more fun of W than anyone (he had it coming) but he was incompetent. We've had many incompetent Presidents and I dare say we'll have a few more, but to lower the level of discourse to unprovable, scurrilous, claims is beneath my contempt and insults my intelligence. This video does a pretty good job of that.
